CAMPOUT: Chocolate Brownie Decadent Dutch Oven Cake

My family, especially myself, loves to go camping. We really enjoy the hiking, wadding around the streams, and of course making fun to eat camp food. My camp stove (aka a cast iron dutch oven) is one of my favorite things to use on camp out. And more often then not, it has some fun dessert baking inside. Here is a perfect cake for your next camp out.

Full time camp fire 2-4 hours depending on fire temp
(Can be cooked in home oven 350' for 1 1/2 hour)
Serves 4-8

The needs-

1 box, chocolate cake mix
1 package instant chocolate pudding (4 servings)
8 oz sour cream
4 eggs
1 cup water
1 cup chocolate chunks or large chips
1/4 cup vegetable oil

The know-

In a large bowl combine eggs and sour cream, stirring until smooth.

Add in pudding mix.

Add water and oil.

Add in cake mix.

Lightly grease bottom of dutch oven with butter (or cooking spray). Pour in batter.

Top with chocolate chunks and cover with lid.

Cook on edge of fire, rotating dutch oven half way through cooking. If fire is burning hot (roughly 350-400) this will cook in approximately 1 hour. Test by inserting a tooth pick if it comes out clean you are all done.

In a low fire or of you want to use adjacent heat so it does not burn, this will cook in about 3 hours (similar to cooking in a slow cooker).

Allow to cool 30 minutes with lid off before serving, cheers!
