17th Century Lemon Sweet

If your a fan of the show 'Game of Thrones' or know someone who is, as I do, you would have heard of the Dornish culture. Their cuisine is based, from what I can tell, on medieval recipes with a heavy Greek influence. BF inspired me to create this beverage after seeing the recipes he was using. After a little trial and error I came up with this beautifully sweet and flavorful version which was a huge hit.

Full time 1 hour*
Serves 8-10

The needs-

6 cups cold water
5 cups confectionery sugar
2 cups hot water
1 1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup orange juice
1 sprig fresh mint

The know-

In a large gallon pitcher place confectionery sugar.

Add in the lemon juice and let it melt the sugar slightly for 1-2 minutes.

Add in the orange juice and give it a good stir.

Add in the hot water and stir to help the sugar dissolve, let it sit for 5 minutes.

Add in cold water and stir.

Add in mint and place in refrigerator to chill. *It can be served in about an hour, but I like to let it sit overnight, tastes so much better and bolder.

Cheers!
