MAKE IT: Hersey's Chocolate Syrup

Chocolate syrup has so many uses: dessert or ice cream topping, chocolate milk, hot chocolate, baking ingredient, ect.
I always have it in the house but, what if you run out? How about try making your own? It is super simple and making homemade is a great way to avoid excess preservatives, sodium, sugars, and honestly saves a lot of money! Give this a whirl, it is a lot of fun and very impressive.

Full time: 40 minutes (includes cooling time)
Makes roughly 1 1/2 cup syrup

The needs-

1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup baking coco
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt

The know-

In heavy bottom pot combine water, sugar, coco, and salt.

Now whisk until smooth.

Set over burner at medium high heat, stirring often.

Bring to boil, turn off heat but leave in burner for 1 minute. It will bubble up- whisk lightly to prevent bubbling over.

Remove from heat and let cool 15-20 minutes.

Add in vanilla and stir well to incorporate.

Move to storage container, store up to 3 months, cheers!
