CHRISTMAS COOKIES: White Chocolate Chip Orange Cookies

With an extra pop of flavor and a splash if zest, these cookies round out any cookie tray. A recent addition to my favorite cookie list, I based this recipe on a classic scone flavor turned cookie.

Full time 1 1/2 hours (includes baking multiple batches and cooling)
Makes 48-60 cookies

You will need:

1 egg
2  1/4-1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup softened butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp orange zest
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp orange extract

Let us begin:

Preheat oven to 350'.

In a large bowl cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar.

Add in egg, orange zest, and extract.

Add in baking soda, salt, and 1/2 cup flour.

Add in 1 3/4 cup flour, if dough is still extremely sticky add in 1/4 cup flour.

If dough is still extremely sticky add in remaining flour. You will have a slightly sticky dough, you just do not want one that sticks too much.

Add in white chocolate chips.

Shape into 1 1/2 tsp size balls and place on a baking sheet.

Use a fork to gently press down and create a textured top.

Bake in oven 9-11 minutes or until edges begin to golden.

Allow to cool on tray 1-2 minutes before moving to a cutting board to finish cooling.
