With the flavor of a walnut topped brownie and the texture of a cookie, these tasty treats are instantly crowd pleasing. Allowing you to add the all important brownie to your cookie tray without the worry of crumbling, hardening, or mess of cutting. A fan favorite of my families, this recipe come from one of my aunts.
Full time 1 1/2 hours (includes baking in multiple batches and cooling)
Makes 42-48 cookies
You will need:
1 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/3 cup coco powder (unsweetened)
1 tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
Let us begin:
Preheat oven to 375'.
In a large mixing bowl cream together shortening and sugar until even in texture.
Add in eggs, water, and vanilla.
Add in coco powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add in flour, stir only until combined.
Fold in walnut pieces.
Drop tsp size balls into cookie sheet 2" apart.
Bake in oven 8-10" or until middle feels slightly firm when lightly pressed.
Remove from oven and let cool on tray 2-4 minutes.
Move to cutting board or wire rack to fully cool.
If desired sprinkle lightly with confectionary sugar. Enjoy!
