MAKE IT: Croutons

Croutons are a great addition to any salad or soup. Making croutons from scratch is easy and enjoyable. Here is a simple way to enjoy homemade croutons  right from your kitchen!

Full time: 45 minutes
Makes 4-5 cups croutons

You will need:

5 sliced sandwich bread (any type)

1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 1/2 tbsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried basil 
1/2 tsp dried dried oregano
1/2 tsp celery salt
1/4 tsp onion powder

Let us begin:

Preheat oven to 300 and line a baking sheet aluminum foil, set aside.

In a small bowl mix together melted butter and olive oil.

Add in all herb/spices, stir until fully blended.

On wax paper lay out your bread and brush evenly with seasoned oil mixture.

Flip bread over and brush evenly with seasoned oil mixture.

Slice bread into four strips.

Turn bread and slice again into five strips, making 16 little pieces.

Move cubes to aluminum lined sheet and repeat until all bread is cubed.

Bake in oven for 10-12 minutes or until edges begin to golden and you can smell a nice herb fragrance.

Remove from oven and let cool on tray 10-15 minutes.

Remove from tray and toss onto salad or store in air tight container for up to 3 weeks, enjoy!
