Black bottom cupcakes are a classic and traditional favorite. Soft moist cake happily cradles a smooth creamy filling. There is no better way to produce smiles then black bottom cupcakes. As a side note, you can actually make this with any flavor cake not just chocolate. Here is a quick and easy way to make these classic treats!

Makes approximately 24 cupcakes
You will need:
1 batch devils food cake batter (if desired use 1 store bought box and mix according to package. I am using homemade)
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
6 oz. chocolate chips
1 cup sugar
Let us begin:
Preheat oven to 350 and line 2 cupcake pans with paper liners, set aside for a moment.
Prepare your batter according to recipe or package), set aside for a moment.
In a medium mixing bowl. Cream together cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Assembly time, fill your cupcake pan liners 1/3 full.
Drop a heaping 1/2 tbsp of cream cheese into center of each.
Bake in oven for 18-25 minutes or until cake tests done. Make sure to no poke into center of cupcake to test, as the filling is there.
(I only bake 1 tray at a time, I find baking both in my oven creates uneven baking on the bottoms.)
Remove from oven and let cool in tray 5-10 minutes.
Remove to wire rack to fully cool.
Serve and enjoy!
