Italian Milk Braised Pork Chops

Milk braising pork is a classic Italian dish. Pork chops are cooked low and slow until tender and soft. The milk slowly turns into a yummy caramelized sauce which is a huge taste bud pleaser. These chops are easy to make and very kid friendly!

Serves: 4-6
Full time: 90 minutes

You will need:

4-6 pork chops preferably boneless
1 1/2 cup milk (2% works best)
2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
2 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper or ground black pepper

Let us begin:

In a large zip bag combine flour, salt, and pepper.

Add in chops and seal.

Shake to fully coat chops.

Get a pan heating over medium heat and add olive oil with butter to pan.

Allow butter to melt.

Carefully remove chops from bag and place into hot pan. Reserve the extra flour mixture.

Brown chops for 2-3 minutes per side.

While these brown. Pour flour mixture into a bowl and whisk well while slowly pouring in 1/2 cup milk.

Add the milk mixture to chops and reduce heat to low.

Cover and cook 15 minutes (20 for 1" thick chops).

Flip over chops and add remaining milk.

Cover and cook additional 10 minutes. (20 for the thick chop) Stir chops and milk around occasionally.

Uncover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until liquid reduces down to roughly 1/4 cup.

Serve immediately and enjoy!
