MAKE IT: Honey BBQ Sauce

BBQ sauce is one of the easiest things to make. The tricky part is balancing out the sweet ingredients with the savory ones. The great thing about making your own BBQ sauce is personal taste modifications.

You can make your sauce as sweet or spicy as you like. I live having a nice sauce that has a slow heat to it, a little back burn. But not everyone does and these days Honey BBQ is the way to go. It tends to be a crowd pleaser, works great on wings or ribs, and takes under 10 minutes to make.

Give this a whirl the next time your having people over and really please their taste buds!

Makes 1 1/2 cups sauce
Full time: 10 minutes

You will need:

1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup honey
2 tbsp dry mustard powder
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp worcestershire
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt

Let us begin:

Mix all ingredients together in a small saucepan.

Place pan on drive over medium high heat.

Reduce sauce by 1/4, it takes about 5-8 minutes to cook.
*If you like a really thick sauce reduce down by 1/2, it will take close to 10 minutes

That's it, glaze over your protein, store in refrigerator up to 1 week, and enjoy!
