HOW TO: Make Chicken Parmesan
However, it's really easy to forget not everyone has made chicken parm. before. It is actually a very simple dish to make, it just has a little prep work that goes into it. Chicken parm. is a great dish to serve when company is coming, for family dinners, or a great date night.
I thought I would cover the basics of how to make chicken parm. I will be using all store ingredients, since we want this to be fast and basic. But feel free to use your own sauce, bread crumbs, or pasta!
This will serve 4-6
Full time: 40-60 minutes
You will need:
1 1/2 pound thin slice chicken cutlets
1 pound pasta (ziti, penne, etc)
1 jar tomato sauce
2 cups shredded Italian blend cheese (or mozzarella if you prefer)
1 1/2 to 2 cups seasoned bread crumbs
Let us begin:
Preheat oven to 350.
Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
Place a large pot of water on the stove and add a few tbsp of salt. Cover and turn heat on to high, this will get your water going for the pasta.
In a small saucepan place the contents of the sauce jar and turn heat to low, you'll want the sauce nice and warm when cooking.
Now in a small bowl break and scramble eggs.
In a second bowl or sided place pour bread crumbs. I like to start with 1 1/2 cups but you may need 2. Just remember you can always add to your bread crumbs, but you can't save anything leftover.
Carefully dip the chicken into the egg.
Now dip the chicken in the bread crumbs and make sure both sides get coated.
Place coated chicken on baking tray and finish remaining pieces.
Once all pieces are coated, place tray in oven and bake 20 minutes.
Flip chicken over and gently ladle sauce onto each piece. Use the back of spoon or bottom of ladle to spread it around.
Top with cheese and return to oven.
Bake additional 20 minutes or until chicken reaches 180 degrees internal temperature.
While this finishes baking, cook pasta in boiling water following directions on package.
Once cooked drain pasta, DO NOT RINSE WITH COLD WATER, and return to pot.
Add remaining sauce to pot and stir to evenly coat pasta.
Once chicken is cooked. Gently move chicken off of tray and onto pasta.
Serve and enjoy!
